We've been lucky enough to know Sarah for a while now. Not only is she a friend, but she's an amazing photographer in YYC + YQL and we've gotten to work together a few times - so, we were so excited when we got the call to come work with her on her own wedding! We have to say, our excitement was justified, this one was really fun to plan! Peep below for more details + photos!

The Vibe
Sarah + Jesse grew up in a small town and were high school sweethearts (doesn't this sound like the beginning of a great country music song?). They wanted to have an outdoor wedding, that was fun, laid back, beautiful + full of friends, family and love (doesn't this sound like the end of a great country music song?).

The Design
Having worked with Sarah in the past, we knew that we had a similar aesthetic and were so excited to create a design for her big day. Inspired by outdoor weddings in the south and by the property itself, we focused on adding elements that enhanced the outdoor space. We brought in natural pieces (florals, wood, etc.) to create an organic experience for guests. A few of our favorite design moments included cloth signage, charcuterie centerpieces and a hanging floral piece above the head table.

The Planning
Sarah + Jesse wanted to get married on a friend of the families private estate, so we focused on transitioning a beautiful piece of land (complete with an orchard that was so stunning it had us questioning if we were in Alberta or Tuscany) into an event space. We brought in a beautiful tent, large harvest tables and benches for the ceremony space. As the space isn't full service and not meant for weddings, we also spent time focusing  on logistical elements like cooking, electrical, access to water, bathrooms, etc.

The We'll-Remember-This-Always Moment
S + J's first dance was one of our favorites. We set up a dance floor on the grass outside of the tent and they danced the night away under the stars.

The Bonus We'll-Remember-This-Always-Moment (because we couldn't just pick one!)
Come 10:00 PM, Sarah + Jesse's favorite Vietnamese food truck pulled into the property to provide guests with some late night eats. Not only was it amazing food (and one of our favorite midnight snacks to date), but the food truck transformed their menu screen into a slide show of the couple to complete the evening.

The Wrap Up
We were so happy to be involved in this one! Not only did we get to work with some amazing vendors (see below!), but we got to watch a lovely friend get married.

A PS from S+J

"Lindsay and Steph are hands down the best! In all honesty, Jesse and I wouldn't have had a wedding day without them. Their attention to detail and innate sense of style turned all of my crazy ideas into a well thought out and cohesive wedding day. They kept everything so well organised, and stress-free that I was able to truly cherish the wedding planning process despite being in the busiest-ever season of my own business!

Both Lindsay and Steph made the planning process so much fun, and their uplifting personalities made the whole experience feel like a coffee date with friends. I cannot recommend Paper Doll Events enough!"
