Y'all -we were so lucky with this one! Not even 13 days into 2018, we got to kick off our wedding season and it couldn't have been with a more lovely couple!
The overall vibe for S+B's wedding was warm, elegant, sophisticated and fun. PLUS, B's got great style (seriously, we still talk about how to get ourselves one of the jacket's she has), so inevitably, the outfits were on point (seriously, maybe our favorite mix of bridesmaid dresses and booties we've ever seen).
We're big fans of two things (edit: we're big fans of like 1000 things, but for here we're focusing on two):
- Make your wedding personal - our goal when we are doing design work is to always have guests walk in and think 'of course the couple would do this - this is so them'
- Create a few statement moments in the design that stand out. Once you have your few statement moments, design all other elements to compliment the statement instead of compete with the statement - it makes for a very cohesive and complimentary design
S+B were so great and let us take some fun chances with the above. B is a florist (check her out at @FaintFloral on the gram!) and her love of florals really inspired the design. As the wedding was in January, we focused on bringing in a warm color palette (how excited were we to get to play with caramel tones!) and let the florals be our statements. We complimented them with some warm toned accents, glassware + fabric signage.
S+B had a short engagement period and we started working with them only four months out from the wedding day. A lot of our planning focused on logistics of the space. S+B had an intimate dinner and much larger reception, so the space had to accommodate a seated portion and then a standing cocktail style reception (and, of course, a dance floor!).
The 'We'll-Remember-This-Always' Moments
S+B did Krispy Kreme donuts as their wedding favours for guests and, we cannot emphasize this enough, they were a hit. We always get asked what favour actually goes at weddings - and let us tell you - look no further than the Krispy Kreme!
The Wrap Up
It was a lovely wedding, with lots of family, love and dancing - and we were sad to see it come to an end! Lucky for us:
a) only a few short month's later we got to start working on B's sister's wedding (which, side note, we also can't wait to share with you!), so our time with this amazing family continued; and
b) we actually got to start working with B in the floral capacity on some fun styled shoots (which we've already started teasing on Insta - go take a peek!)
